VICI-style professor

SENTINELS has planned funding for a VICI-style professor in information security at a Dutch university. This form of grant is directed at senior researchers who have shown that they have the ability to successfully develop their own innovative lines of research and to act as coaches for young researchers. They will be able to build up their own research teams, often in advance of a regular professorial appointment. Their lines of research will be given a structural place within the research institution. The maximum amount of grant will be 1.2 M for a period of five years. Note that this is SENTINELS budget and not NWO budget, and therefore the professor is called a VICI-style professor.

The granting rules for the VICI-style professor are similar to the rules which apply for regular VICI grants (see the NWO website http://www.nwo.nl). If possible, the NWO VICI procedure will be joined, but, as said, with budget from SENTINELS. That ensures anchoring and that the professor appointed (a.o.) collaborates with all kinds of SENTINELS activities such as knowledge exchange activities, and that he/she promotes the SENTINELS vision and range of ideas.
