Steering Group

Tasks and responsibilities

The tasks and responsibilities of the Steering Group are:

  • The management of SENTINELS. SENTINELS is represented by the Steering Group. The Steering Group is responsible for the interpretation of the mission and the implementation of the strategy for SENTINELS.
  • The responsibility for the spending of the financial means of SENTINELS and the formal granting of the research proposals.
  • Approval of long-range plans and year plans (including plans of activity and financial plans), if applicable after some adjustments.
  • Progress monitoring and annual reporting to the funding partners.
  • The responsibility for the quality of SENTINELS, in particular the achievement of the aims and objects.
  • Stimulate collaboration between participants and others by all means, e.g. by publicity, workshops, symposia, etc.
  • The appointment of the Program Committee and the Board (responsible for the day-to-day management), including mutations in its members and appointment of the chair person.
When the Steering Group intends to deviate from the priority ranking for the research projects as proposed by the Program Committee, it shall inform the Program Committee before deciding to do so.

Members

Members of the Steering Group are representatives from the participants who provide the funds for SENTINELS:

  • the Ministry of Economic Affairs;
  • the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research, Governing Board (NWO-AB);
  • the Technology Foundation (STW); and
  • one industrial representative.
Depending on the (matching) contribution, an additional representative from e.g. education, industry, government, public authorities or hospitals may be added.
