The SENTINELS research program intends to start in the second half of 2003, but details are to be determined. The time line as expected at the time of writing is shown in figure 8.1. It should be seen as an indication. The scale is in years and quarters. The start of the program is in year 1.

Please note that this figure has two main parts: the dashed box which encloses SENTINELS-I (or, for short, SENTINELS, as described in this document), and the dotted box SENTINELS-II, the possible follow up program (section 7.7).

The events of SENTINELS-II are only shown to indicate that the mid-term review of SENTINELS-I determines the contents of SENTINELS-II. We have shown (with approximate dates) the steps ``composition of the SENTINELS-II proposal'', ``approval term for SENTINELS-II'', and ``consideration term SENTINELS-II round 1...''.
